Website cost calculator

Pick how many pages you need and what the site has to do. It prices the same site four ways — yourself, a freelancer, an agency, and our fixed prices — over the first year and over three, because the monthly fees are where the real cost hides.

5 pages

Five is normal for a local business: home, services, about, reviews, contact.

How the estimate works

Each option starts from a typical price for a five-page site and adds to it for every extra page and every feature you tick. The numbers are estimates from typical US rates. Real quotes vary, which is why each option shows a range rather than one figure.

Doing it yourself uses Wix and Squarespace plans billed annually, from about $16 a month. Booking and online stores push you onto a higher plan. The bigger cost is time, so the calculator shows the hours.

Freelancers start at $500–$3,000 for five pages, plus $100–$300 for each extra page and $10–$25 a month for hosting. Agencies start at $4,000–$6,000, where hourly rates run $100–$200.

GetDigital is our own published pricing: $750 once for a five-page Starter site, $1,500 plus $49 a month for Standard, and $2,500 plus $149 a month for Local SEO. The calculator picks the tier that fits what you ticked. Every option includes about $20 a year for a domain in your name.

What actually changes the price

Pages are most of the labour, so page count moves every option. After that, the expensive features are online stores and anything that needs someone to keep working after launch. A plumber needs a phone number people can tap, not a shopping cart. The full breakdown, with three-year totals against Wix and Squarespace, is in how much a small business website costs.

Common questions

How much does a small business website cost?

Between about $200 a year for a do-it-yourself builder and $6,000 or more for an agency. For a typical five-page local service site, $750 to $3,000 buys everything most businesses need. Use the calculator for your own page count and features.

How much does a five-page website cost?

Roughly $500 to $3,000 from a freelancer, $4,000 to $6,000 from an agency, or $16 to $17 a month plus 20 or so hours of your own time on a builder. Our Starter tier is a five-page site for $750, once.

Is Wix or Squarespace cheaper than paying someone?

In the first year, usually. Over three years a subscription often costs more than a one-time build, and you never own the site — it stops existing when you stop paying.

What ongoing costs should I budget for?

A domain name, around $20 a year. Hosting, which ranges from included to $50 a month. And changes: either your own time or a monthly plan. Decide who will update the site before you buy it.

Are these prices for the US only?

The ranges are typical US rates in US dollars. Freelancer and agency prices vary a lot by country; builder subscriptions and our published prices are the same wherever you are.
